A New Chapter at Bowriders Grill

This summer brought a fresh start to Bowriders Grill after a long closure over the winter.

We reopened with ambitious goals to bring table service and an elevated experience. After a few weeks of experimentation, we took a short pause to bring on additional management and staff, and focused on building the right team for the next chapter.

During this time, we welcomed a new chef to the kitchen: Chef Mario. Mario came to Bowriders through a referral from our previous Chef, Chef Matthew, who returned to help with the transition. Through the end of summer, we kept things familiar, bringing back some old-school Bowriders favorites while Mario learned the ropes and began introducing his own recipes.

Now, he’s ready to put his full stamp on the kitchen.

Meet Chef Mario

Mario’s vision for Bowriders is simple: a marina lounge with a compact, chef-driven food menu.

He wants Bowriders to feel like a hidden gem on Lake Union, a place for small plates, warm shareables, drinks by the fire, and a more relaxed, intimate style of service.

Part of that vision is bringing guests closer to the kitchen, with chef-counter seating overlooking the action and the opportunity to order directly from Mario while he cooks.

The Upcoming Fall Menu

This fall marks the first time the entire Bowriders menu will be Chef Mario’s.

Expect a mix of new recipes, seasonal favorites, elevated comfort food, seafood, shareables, and a few Bowriders classics that aren’t going anywhere. (Don’t worry, we know better than to mess with your beloved BLT and salmon skewers!)

What we can say is that the new menu is designed for lingering, sharing a plate, grabbing a drink, sitting by the fire, and enjoying Lake Union.

New chef. New menu. New Bowriders.

Come see what’s cooking at Bowriders this fall.
